ARTHUR SCHWARTZVintage typed letter, 1 page, 8 1/2" x 11", November 10, 1944, on
Warner Bros. letterhead, Burbank, California, to his partner Howard Dietz **
with pencil shorthand notes
Schwartz suggests that Dietz contact his lawyer and tell him to make a deal
for the use of their song "I See Your Face Before Me" for 20th Century as it
appears Gregory Radtoff will not go through with their "Beat the Devil" deal.
There will be two renditions of their song in the 20th film.

** Howard Dietz (1896-1983) was an American publicist, lyricist and librettist.
He had an association with Arthur Schwartz for over 30 years.
Arthur Schwartz was an American composer and film producer.
He found success on
Broadway and in films. Received two Academy Award nominations for Best Original Song
for the films
Thank Your Lucky Stars
(1943) and
The Time, the Place and the Girl
(1946).
Schwartz and Dietz began their working together with the Broadway revue
The Little Show
(1930).
