Mercruiser Type 1 1965/75Steering Shaft/Pin Round to Round Spline Upper Swivel
From About 1965 to 1976. I also have pre alpha 1976 to 1982 shafts listed in another ad. If your gimbal housing has a 3/8" brass flat head screw on top you can remove so you can use a punch to drive your shaft down out of the ring then this should be correct because the housings newer then 1975 do not have that access port. I should be able to tell you which type steering shaft you need with a quick phone call.
I also have the gimbal rings for these listed. Please take note that usually the gimbal ring will wear out before the shaft/pin because the shaft/pin is made out of steel and the ring is made out of cast/pot aluminum and the aluminum is the softer metal.
The
Pre-Alpha round
to round spline steering shaft with the nut and 2 washers will not work on these type 1's! Type 1's do not have thread for a nut on top. There is a spreader nut 1/4" allen that is screwed up into the shaft/pin to expand the sides of the pin out and make it tighter on the gimbal ring.

These
shafts are in real good shape and you will have tight steering. I usually throw away about half the shafts I get. I am not saying these will be perfect but they will give you tight steering.
